"IF WE BOMBARD THE COMMISSION WITH COMPLAINTS THEY'LL HAVE TO ACT!!"
Sorry to deflate your bubble but this is a non starter in the UK. Charity status, as in the US, is given to religious bodies. They do not have to do charitable work.
It is too easy to think that Jehovah's Witnesses are the only evil religion around. Not so. I personally would remove charity status from ALL religions. But it isn't going to happen.
In the UK, the chance of the JW's losing charity status is NIL.

IMPORTANT: JWS and the CHARITIES COMMISSION
by Dansk indear all (especially those in the uk),.
following on from danny's excellent post here: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/16/128626/1.ashx i have just sent an e-mail to the charities commission.
some time ago i wrote to you about the dangers of jehovah's witnesses and how they don't deserve charity status because far from helping mankind they are a real danger to it.

GoverningBody.org is now up.
by James Free inwell, i finally put up the site.
the articles are nothing new - bits from wikipedia etc.
but i hope it will persuade even one 'interested' one to avoid the jw's - and even get an existing member to think.

The site just passed its first 1000 unique visitors. That's much faster than I expected. I was also surprised how many opened this thread - there are an amazing lot of lurkers? If you are one, welcome.

Thank you all for your kind words. I changed the date to 1925 (thanks for spotting that) and I changed the paragraph about field service after reinstatement because most will be able to resume this right away, even if supervised. I am glad you like the logo too. I just hope it deters even one - then it has been worth it.

The width is set to the Internet standard of 950 pixels. If you have to scroll sideways it means you are using a smaller resolution. Sorry about that, but I designed it to reflect the designs of today so it would look more professional, and Web 2.0 uses fixed widths. As for drawing in the visitors, I'll mention it whenever it is appropriate online and hope the links get used. Part of my reason for doing it was to stand up and be counted - it was therapeutic.

Well, I finally put up the site. The articles are nothing new - bits from Wikipedia etc. but I hope it will persuade even one 'interested' one to avoid the JW'S - and even get an existing member to think. If I manage that it was worth it. Anyway, I am now 'officially' an apostate!

Watchtower Custom Prints Bibles for Babylon (1992)
by cabasilas ini started a thread on this many years ago but did not have the documentation ready.
i recently unearthed the documentation and have put it into a pdf.. back about 15 years ago my best friend worked for a christian book store.
he used to order foreign bibles for the store and one evening i was thumbing through a thai bible on the shelf and was dumbstruck.

A Bible is a bible. The WT would not consider it as anything special. They sometimes quote from other translations if it suits them. Good research, but this is a non story.

I did it for two hours last night....
by AK - Jeff inattended another church service.
i enjoyed the modern music at the beginning of it.
the 'sermon' or message was a discussion of leviticus chapter 3. i found it interesting, but not particularly inspiring.

"I am seeking to replace, at least partially, the community that I lost when leaving Jw's."
Now this I can totally understand. The WT gets you to dump all friendships with those on the outside when you are in, and then they dump you when you leave, and even get one's family to do the same.
But you don't need to go to another church for association, and you don't need to go out of the frying pan into the fire. Ultimately, all religions will let you down at some point. Try to widen out, try to develop friendships with people who will like you for what you are, not what club or church you belong to. Easy to say, I know, and I have certainly had my lonely times. But, to borrow a biblical metaphor, build your friendships on rock, not the quicksand of religion. I am not saying don't build friendships with active church-goers either - but be their friend for wider reasons. -

"You need to find a church that is not strong on doctrine, but gives you the right emotional feelings."
That is sooo funny. Yeah, find a Church that makes you feel good and leaves out the doctrine...
Better still, don't bother. Religion can be a fix, can make you feel better, and will always ultimately let you down since it is all based on false promises. This is the only life there is, period. The rest is just a dream. -

GB -They are afraid you will discover the truth! and other articles

i see that some of you are very articulate and often post well researched comments.
so, can you help me with the following topics:.

I have first-hand knowledge. I was chained to the WT for 30 years and was a ministerial servant and regular pioneer. I was asking for help in preparing articles because it's always good to pool resources. If no one wants to help, that's fine too.

I need your help. I will be publishing online some articles about the GB. I see that some of you are very articulate and often post well researched comments. So, can you help me with the following topics:
What happens if anyone wants to leave?
This is about disfellowshipping, gossip designed to destroy a persons good name (suggesting immorality etc), and name calling (apostate etc)
How accurate are their teachings?
This could be about anything you like
Do they have the authority to control your life?
This is about 607/1919 - the FDS and the GB
They are afraid you will discover the truth!
This is about non-WT research and the objection to higher education
If you have other subjects, that's fine too. The tone is simple, factual, and aimed at interested persons, not devout JW's.
